Special Contests

Don’t just be a spectator – be a part of the 2017 Arapahoe County Fair in one of our fairgoer-friendly competitions. Some contests require pre-entry, but you can sign up for many contests just 30 minutes before the event.

  • Decorated Cabbage Head

    Prizes will be awarded for ugliest, cutest and animal look-a-like. Contest open to all ages. Check the Open Class book for details.

  • Pie Eating Contest

    Tackle a pastry head-first in the Pie Eating Contest. These contests are open to anyone and competitors will be divided by age group as follows: 12 and under, 13 to 18, or 19 and over.

  • Chocolate Cake Contest

    Chocoholics can vie for the prize by bringing their best chocolate cake for tasting and judging by a panel at a live contest at the Fair. Check the Open Class book for details.

  • Mutton Bustin'

    See if your kiddo has the chops for rodeo! It's free to watch. Any child age 4 - 7 who weighs less than 60 pounds can sign up and attempt to ride a sheep for eight seconds. $5 registration fee applies.

  • Adult Round Robbin

    Any members of the public ages 19 and up may enter to compete in this showmanship contest.

    Fairgoers ages 5 to 7 may enter to compete in this showmanship contest.

  • Fastest Fingers in the West

    How quick can you knit? Held on both Saturday and Sunday, contestants participating in this speed-knitting event will have 10 minutes to knit as many rows as they can.

  • Tallest Sunflower

    Sunflowers may be wild or cultivated garden sunflowers. Contest is open to all ages. Check the Open Class book for details.
